Some places just have a way of pulling you back. The Matara Centre in Tetbury has us magnetised 🧲. Maybe it’s the 28 acres of peaceful gardens and woodlands, the stunning cloisters, the iconic Torii gates ⛩️ or maybe it's the world class canape's and outdoor pizza oven 🍕. In reality there are 100 good reasons to fall in love with Matara.

This time last week we visited the matara centre to meet a couple soon to say 'I do' there themselves.Every visit feels like stepping into a memory. As you may know already, because we tell anyone who will listen, we got hitched in the cloisters many moons ago with 21 of our nearest and dearest on the last day of summer sunshine 🌞.

A return to joy

We often make a trip to the gardens for a dog walk down memory lane. The advantage of booking Matara as your venue is that you can return to the grounds as long as there are no private functions on. That's right, you are free to enjoy it whenever you need a romantic stroll or mid week pick me up. You'll also get to know other like-minded couples who walk the labyrinths of Matara, a flock of adventurous lovebirds 🐦🐦 all with their own love stories connected together by a forest of young saplings.

The flow and flexibility of the spaces available allows a perfect space for an intimate 25 person wedding up to those grand festivals of up to 200 people.

Connection and accommodation

Matara has a strong earthly feel that leads to a really relaxed experience for guests. The parkland feels joyfully immersive leaving you feeling reconnected to the natural world but that doesn't mean you have to sleep under the stars ⭐. The Grade II listed Cotswold Regency home, ensuite bedrooms and honeymoon lodge offer accommodation for up to 30 guests.

The friendly staff are well coordinated and dedicated to creating the best wedding day for their couples. Some of them, like us, even got hitched at Matara themselves. The team are more of a family and it shows in everything they do. Often we hear couples choosing this venue for its unique and heartfelt service.

Hidden treasures

And that's not all that matara offers, before we left, we couldn’t resist a little foraging adventure, gathering wild garlic from near the grounds. Because if there’s one thing we love more than a beautiful wedding, it’s free food. 😂
